Runners are invited to take an active approach to their \u201cMaputo City Day\u201d celebrations by signing up for the much-anticipated FNB MAPUTO 10K Virtual Run that will take place on Wednesday 10 November 2021!<\/p>\n

\u201cAs part of the commemorations of the 134th anniversary of Maputo City, with this event, we want to reinforce the culture and practice of sporting activity in a more comprehensive way, to promote general health and well-being. The virtual format brings a differential, in that it allows everyone, from Rovuma to Maputo, regardless of geographic location, to participate in the race, also ensuring compliance with the rules of physical distance,” said Edmundo Ribeiro Roque, Councilor for Education and Sports at the Maputo Municipal Council.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe realization of activities in the virtual format has become a common practice for organizations that have adjusted to the new reality. Although we can’t all race together yet, as happened in 2019, last year it was already possible to bring the FNB Maputo 10K race in a different format, the virtual format. Therefore, it is with great pride that we bring this iconic event again, where participants can run from anywhere, at their own pace, choosing their favorite route and together, virtually, we celebrate Maputo City Day,” says Peter Blenkinsop, Administrador Executive of FNB Mo\u00e7ambique.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cThe FNB MAPUTO 10K Virtual Run made history in 2020 as the first official virtual run to be hosted in Mozambique,\u201d says Michael Meyer, Managing Director of Stillwater Sports.\u00a0 “The beauty of a virtual race lies in the fact that it allows participants from all walks of life to come together (virtually) in a spirit of camaraderie, pride and celebration.\u00a0 We can\u2019t wait to once again be part of this very special event that honours Maputo City Day.\u201d<\/p>\n

As it is a Virtual Run, runners will be required to complete a 10km course of their choice between 5am and 7pm.\u00a0 The FNB MAPUTO 10K RUN Tracking App will be available for download closer to the event date.\u00a0 This app will enable runners to monitor and record their race.<\/p>\n
